Beech Lodge Care Facility, Bruree, celebrated Nursing Homes week 2015 with a range of exciting, fun events for our residents and staff to enjoy. On Monday 22nd June residents enjoyed a Bingo session where residents won great prizes. And the winning didn't stop there ....Bingo was followed by a raffle where residents won even more great prizes. Our lucky Bingo winners were Catherine Quish and Jacqueline O' Connell, both won vouchers to spend as they please. Our raffle winners were Hannah Hayden (Box of Chocolates), Hanora Doran (Bottle of whiskey) and John O' Gorman (Bottle of wine). On Wednesday 24th Shannon Ices made a trip to us in their ice-cream van to deliver some cool, tasty 99's to residents and staff. Although we didn't have the fine weather, it was nice to pretend we did! There was a relaxing silence in the building while everyone tucked into their ice-cream. It was a lovely mid-week treat for all!! On Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th we had our weekly music sessions by the talented Ide Hogan and Charlie Reynolds. These sessions are greatly enjoyed by our residents and we look forward to them every week where residents enjoy socialising and singing. Friday 26th residents attended the weekly mass in our Dome area .... but this time with a special treat. Jessie Griffin arrived to delight us with hymns before and during mass. It was a lovely treat. Saturday 27th of June was our main event for Nursing Homes week. Our residents attended our Mad Hatter Tea party, wore bizarre, colourful hats, ate delicious food, and sat back and enjoyed a wonderful, entertaining performance from Terry May. Following up to the event our residents were busy getting creative making colourful decorations for our party venue (our daffodil Unit) and creating their hats. Great fun was had by all creating our tea party. Saturday afternoon was filled with music and song here at Beech Lodge. We laughed, chatted, ate, sang and enjoyed every minute. What a great success!!! As well as our main events residents enjoyed strolls around the grounds enjoying the sunny days, we caught up with current news, kept fit with our exercise group, had our monthly visit from our resident advocate, went on a shopping spree to the Crescent, celebrated a birthday, had a visit from the Limerick Mobile Library, and much more. We also had a party to wave farewell to a student from Austria who came over to us here in Bruree for 3 months on work placement through her University,. It is safe to say we will sleep soundly for the next week!! Nursing homes week was a wonderful, entertaining week, with different delights and surprises for our residents. Without a doubt we already can't wait for next year!! Please see our gallery for some lovely pics!
