The Convalescent Care and Post-Operative Rehabilitative Care Programmes assist individuals with recuperation and recovery after surgery, or serious illness. Because each individual is different, the length of stay can vary between one week to twelve weeks.
Beech Lodge is registered with VHI Healthcare, Laya Healthcare and Aviva Healthcare who, under certain insurance plans, contribute towards a certain level of convalescent stay.
The multi-disciplinary team consists or Healthcare Professionals (Director, Nurse Manager, Staff Nurses, Physiotherapist), the individual and the family, GP and other Facility staff.
The team provides:
- 24 Hour nursing care
- Full time physiotherapy and an individual rehabilitation programme
- Health promotion and prevention of illness of injury advice.
- Nutritional Care
- Medical Services in collaboration with the family doctor.
- Social Activities
- Laundry and Housekeeping services.

Physiotherapy rehabilitation after first-time total hip or knee replacement surgery is accepted as the standard and essential treatment. The aim is to maximise a person’s functionality and independence and minimise complications such as hip dislocation (for hip replacement) wound infection, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.’ (Health Technology Assessment Series 2018)
